Instructions

    • 1

Lay your baby across your lap. Gently wipe his/her upper lip, nose and the skin just below the nostrils so that it is dry, a slippery nose and/or upper lip will only make the process more difficult. The skin just below the nostrils is very sensitive and can become chapped so be gentle and wipe as little as possible, this is one of the pros of using a nasal aspirator.

    • 2

With one hand, steady your baby's head. With the other hand, squeeze the nasal aspirator and rest your forearm gently on baby's torso, this is for added steadiness for a squirmy baby and to steady your hand as well.

    • 3

Insert the aspirator into one of baby's nostrils only about a 1/4 of an inch and release the aspirator allowing the suction to take place.

    • 4

Remove the aspirator from your child's nose, place the tip of the aspirator in some tissue and squeeze to clear the mucus from the aspirator and repeat the process in the same nostril or the other one.

    • 5

Continue steps until baby's nose is clear.
