Give your baby a teething ring or teething toy to play with and chew on. The pressure your baby will exert as he chews on the toy will help provide some relief against the pain of teething. To provide even more relief, put the teething ring in the freezer and then give it to your baby.

Take a wet washcloth and put it in the freezer. Most babies love cold objects when they are teething because they help to numb their gums and minimize the pain. Let your baby chew and suck on the frozen washcloth until it has lost its appeal.

Put some frozen fruit like strawberries or bananas in a mesh baby-feeder and let her suck and gnaw away on it. The cold of the frozen fruit will again numb her gums and she'll love the taste of the fruit without creating a choking hazard.

Purchase all-natural teething tablets. These tablets are completely safe to use in babies and have no side effects. The tablets are very small and dissolve instantly once placed under your baby's tongue.

    • 5

Use baby acetaminophen, especially if baby is running a low-grade fever. Acetaminophen can treat teething pain by lowering baby's fever and easing the pain caused by the teeth coming up through the gums. Check with your pediatrician for the right amount to give your baby and use it only when absolutely necessary.

If your baby is already eating soft foods like cold applesauce and yogurt, feed these to your baby during teething. A lot of babies will reject foods while they are teething, so providing a cold option might be more appealing to your baby and help to treat teething pain by numbing the gums. Cold water in a bottle or cup will do the trick too.

It may seem too simple, but many babies love to have their gums rubbed when they are teething. Gently rub your baby's gums with your finger and you'll be providing the same counter-pressure as a teething toy.
