Instructions

    • 1

Mash potatoes for the whole family. Purée baby's potatoes with expressed breast milk or formula.

    • 2

Smash a banana with a fork until smooth. This is the closest thing to fast food for babies.

    • 3

Peel butternut squash and cut it into chunks. Steam the chunks until soft and mash them with a fork. Butternut, acorn and other winter squashes are great sources of vitamin A.

    • 4

Make leek-and-potato soup by cooking chopped leeks and peeled potatoes in unsalted broth. Blend them in the food processor or blender.

    • 5

Look for fresh persimmons at the market. Peel and core them, then steam and mash the pulp.

    • 6

Roast whole sweet potatoes in the oven. Peel and mash them until smooth.

    • 7

Simmer dried fruits like prunes, peaches and apricots in a little water, then purée.
