How to Put Fabric Fasteners on Store-Bought Diapers

Store-bought diapers often come with securing mechanisms that use adhesive tape. These adhesive fasteners can become unstuck during the course of the day, causing the diaper to loosen and fall. By adding fabric fastener strips, such as Velcro, to the diapers and using them as an alternative fastener, you can ensure that the diaper stays securely fastened to your baby's bottom. Fabric fasteners apply opposing pieces of fabric to one another. One piece of fabric has nylon hooks, which adheres to the nylon pile material on the opposite end, which forms a bond when pressed together.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the strips of fabric fastener to size so that they will fit the diaper that you are using.

    • 2

Peel off the plastic backing that's on the underside of the adhesive strips to reveal the adhesive backing. Place the fabric fasteners on the diaper, where the fastener is located, and press so that the adhesive sticks to the diaper material.

    • 3

Peel the plastic backing from the underside of the receiving fabric fastener strip and place it on the opposite end of the diaper's fastener. Press firmly to ensure that the strip is secured to the diaper.

    • 4

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 on the opposite side of the diaper to replace the factory fastening mechanism with the fabric fasteners. Perform this procedure on as many diapers as you need.
