Can an infant of 9 months get this his father was 5 weeks old when he got his?
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a virus that replicates in the nose and throat. It is spread through contact with respiratory droplets produced by an infected person when they cough or sneeze. Measles is most commonly spread by people who are infected but do not yet have symptoms. The virus can also be spread by people who are vaccinated but still have the disease, although this is less common.
Babies are not usually vaccinated against measles until they are 12 months old. This is because the vaccine is not as effective in infants under 12 months of age. However, if an infant of 9 months is exposed to measles, they may be given a dose of the vaccine to help prevent them from getting the disease.
If your infant is exposed to measles, it is important to contact their doctor right away.
