What Is a Handheld PBA?

A handheld Personal Baby Assistant, also known as the Onaroo PBA, is an electrical device by American Innovative, LLC that helps you keep track of changing your baby’s diapers and administrating feedings. The device also keeps track of your baby’s naps, medicine, growth and body temperature. The device interfaces with your computer for uploading the data for processing, printing or storing. A PBA is similar to a personal digital assistant and includes a user-friendly interface.

  1. Information Relay

    • Information you enter into a PBA is ready for printing or viewing by your baby’s doctor, clinic or any other healthcare professional. The device stores the data in a clear and concise manner and is capable of keeping track of data for two babies. You can set reminders and wake-up alerts, and generate charts and timelines. Report generation includes specific data: feedings, medicines, the amount of time your baby is sleeping and the number of diapers he or she is using.

    Computer Interface

    • The device includes a Universal Serial Bus cable for connecting the devices to any available USB port on the front, side or back of your computer. A PBA also includes a built-in nightlight and removable belt clip as well as the device driver and software for uploading data to your computer. The device is compatible with the Windows operating system only.

    Online Reporting

    • Data uploaded from a PBA to your computer is also automatically sent to the Onaroo PBA’s website for viewing. The Onaroo website access is free and accessible from any computer that has an Internet browser and is running Internet Explorer or Firefox. The website also prompts you through creating a user name and password the first time you access it.

    Purchasing

    • PBAs are available from directly from American Innovative, as well as Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, Wal-mart and other retail, online and retail superstores. The devices are also available from online auction websites and websites that specialize in baby products and services. PBAs vary in prices and are approximately $50 at the time of publication. Batteries are sold separately and the devices include instructions on setting up the units and accessing the Onaroo PBA website.
