How to Heat Up Sweet Oil

Sweet oil is another name for olive oil and is primarily used to treat earaches and soften hardened wax within the ear canal. It has a soothing and moisturizing effect when applied topically. Sweet oil is full of healthy unsaturated fats and it should be warmed carefully, as excessive heat destroys the composition of these fats and the nutritive properties that are good for the skin. In addition, too much heat can burn the delicate skin inside the ear canal.

Fill a pot with 3 to 4 inches of water. Place it on the stove and bring water to a slow boil.

    • 2

Pour a small amount of sweet oil inside the Pyrex bowl and carefully place the bowl inside the pot of boiling water. The water should be an inch or two below the rim of the bowl.

Wash your hands and test the temperature of the oil after minute. The oil should be slightly warm. The skin on your finger is less sensitive than the skin in your ear so don't wait until the oil feels too warm.
