Get Well Gifts for a Little Girl
No one enjoys being sick, but it is especially hard on active children. Being bedridden or otherwise forced to undergo a period of enforced inactivity can make them cranky, bored and tearful. If you know a little girl who is sick in bed, give her a get-well gift that will keep her interested and entertained during her convalescence. She will thank you for it, and her caregivers will, too.-
Paper Dolls
-
Paper dolls are ideal gifts for little girls who are ill because they are lightweight, easy to handle and to store and are available in many different designs. They can be found in book and toy stores as well as online, and some websites even allow you to design and print your own paper dolls. Give safety scissors, crayons and extra paper with the dolls so the girl can make new clothing and accessories for them.
Craft Items
-
Give her the materials to let her imagination run free, even if she is stuck in bed or on the couch. Aluminum foil can be rolled, wadded and squeezed into many different shapes, and is easily cleaned away and recycled when she is finished playing. Coloring and puzzle books are diverting, and crayons will not stain clothes and bedding the way felt pens can. Make sure to include a plastic bed tray so that she will have a level surface for her craft projects.
Entertainment
-
Give a basket full of diversions to a little girl who has been cooped up for a while. Include cartoons and her favorite movies, add some age-appropriate books, including a comic book or two, and include a card game such as Old Maid that she can play with her visitors as well as a plain deck of playing cards with instructions for a simple Solitaire game. If she is not on a restricted diet, tuck in a few of her favorite fruits or some cheese and cracker snacks; stay away from candy and sugary drinks.
Big Gifts
-
If the little girl will be on the sick list for quite a while, consider buying her a hand-held video gaming system along with a game or two. Most children enjoy video games and with a hand-held console, she can entertain herself at any time of the day or night. Be sure the console comes with a plug-in charger so that she will not have to worry about batteries, and add a set of child-sized headphones so that she will not worry about being too noisy when everyone else is asleep.
