Effective Home Remedy for Lice

According to the California Department of Public Health, head lice are prevalent in homes, schools and day cares, and children are more susceptible to contracting lice from family members and playmates rather than classmates. Lice glue their eggs, called nits, to hair follicles so they cannot be brushed off. Application of thick oil will smother adult lice and regular vinegar rinses will keep eggs from hatching by dissolving their protective outer coating.
