Health & Safety Tips for Kids

Lessons taught early in life on the importance of staying healthy and safe are often carried into adulthood. In order to develop a healthy future, there are a few simple rules that every child should follow.

    • Fruits and vegetables are healthy snacks for kids.

Children should eat meals consisting of healthy foods like grains, dairy, meats and fruits and vegetables each day to maintain a healthy body and mind.

It is important for children to learn how to dial 911 and know their full name, address and phone number in case they get lost or need emergency assistance.

    Importance of Sleep

    • Children need more sleep each night than adults.

The National Sleep Foundation recommends that children between 5 and 10 years of age get an average of 10 to 11 hours of sleep each night to maintain both physical and mental health.

    Hygiene

    • Baths keep the body odor free and healthy.

In order to prevent unpleasant body odors and the development and spread of germs, children should bathe daily and wash their hands before and after meals as well as after using the restroom.

    Dental Health

    • Children should brush and floss daily.

Brushing and flossing twice a day will help children keep their teeth and gums healthy and breath smelling fresh.
