Foot Braces for Kids

Foot braces are used for children who have trouble supporting their weight with their feet. This could be due to an injury, surgery or deformity. These braces help relieve the foot from being in pain. These braces are usually made out of a plastic shell or a nylon material. They can be made for different sized feet.
  1. Relief Nylon Braces

    • The first type of foot brace is made out of a soft nylon material which provides relief and comfort for a foot that has been injured or simply is in pain. This type of brace also helps stabilize the foot and protect it from future injury. These foot braces may be fitted for different sizes or equipped with a hook-loop strap to help tighten around the foot and ankle.

    Postoperative Brace

    • Postoperative foot braces are commonly used with individuals who have recently had surgery on their foot. This type of brace is used in this situation because it provides stability to the ankle and foot--more so than other types of foot braces. This type of brace also hooks to help adjust it for the individual.

    AFO

    • An AFO, also known as ankle-foot orthotics, is a group of braces that help treat patients with drop foot disorder. These type of braces are made out of a moldable and sometimes flexible plastic material. There is also a nylon strap that goes across the front of the brace to help tighten it onto the person's foot.
