Determine what symptoms your child has. You can do this by using a thermometer to check a child's temperature, ask the child how they feel or "where it hurts" to get additional information on his symptoms.

    • 2

Administer the appropriate treatment for the side effect symptoms. If your child has a sore throat, hot soup may help to soothe it. For a fever, headaches and muscle aches, Tylenol should do the trick. A cold compress may also help with a child's fever.

Check back with your child often to see how he is feeling and if any new symptoms have arisen. You can then use the appropriate treatments to treat your child's side effect symptoms as they come.
