Adrenal Problems in Children

The adrenal glands are located above the kidneys. They help our bodies deal with events that cause us stress. Children, like adults, sometimes have problems with their adrenal glands that interfere with daily activities. (See Reference 1)

    Identification

    • To identify whether or not a child is having adrenal problems, a doctor will take a complete medical history and conduct a physical examination. They will order blood work to be drawn and a complete urinalysis. (See Reference 1)

    Treatments

    • Treatments for adrenal problems in children are medications and surgery in extreme cases. Herbs and supplements are beneficial alternative treatments for many sufferers. (See Reference 1)
