How to Bring Down Chlorine in an Indoor Pool
The speed at which you are able to reduce the chlorine level in an indoor pool will vary, depending upon the room in which the pool is located. If the pool is located in a room with large windows which offer good ventilation, simply opening the windows and allowing the built up chlorine vapor to escape will help reduce some of the chlorine in the pool.Things You'll Need
- Chlorine test strips
- Chlorine neutralizer

1
Use a chlorine test strip to determine the chlorine level in the pool. Remove a single strip from the container, being careful to only touch a small portion of one end. Dip the untouched end into the pool for two to three seconds. Remove the strip and compare it to the chart on the side of the container. Normal swimming pool chlorine levels range between 1.0 and 3.0 ppm of chlorine.
-
2
Calculate the difference between the current chlorine level if it's too high and the desired chlorine level. Use the chart printed on the chlorine neutralizer container to determine the manufacturer's recommended amount, based upon the size of the pool.
-
3
Add half of the recommended amount. This will prevent you from lowering the chlorine level too much. Spread the chlorine neutralizer roughly evenly around the pool.
-
4
Turn on the pool's pump to circulate the neutralizer.
-
5
Check the chlorine level again after 30 minutes, and repeat Steps 1 through 5 until the appropriate chlorine level is achieved.
