Frontal Lobe Seizures in Children

A seizure occurs because of abnormal electrical discharges in the brain. According to eMedicine, frontal lobe seizures can affect anyone, regardless of age, at any stage of life.

    • Children who experience frontal lobe seizures will scream or laugh in an explosive manner, have trouble speaking and will move their body repetitively.

    Causes

    • Many doctors find no explanation for seizures in certain children. However, some children experience frontal lobe seizures because of tumors, traumatic injury or genetics.

    Identification

    • A doctor can perform a variety of tests to identify whether a child is having frontal lobe seizures. These tests include a brain scan and an electroencephalogram.

    Treatment

    • In some cases, an anti-seizure medication will be prescribed to treat the frontal lobe seizures. If the medication is not effective, the child may have to undergo surgery in order to control the seizures.

    Prevention/Solution

    • Some children who suffer from seizures have found that certain things will trigger them. It is best to avoid those things to keep the seizures from occurring.
