1
Carefully inspect the outer edge of the anus 2 to 3 hours after the child has fallen asleep. Pinworms are most active late at night and can often be seen on the anus. Pinworms are usually white and about a half of an inch in length.
-
2
Apply a strip of clear tape to the anus immediately after the child wakes up. Remove the tape and store it in a sealed container. Although it is unlikely you will catch a visible pinworm with the tape, it is likely you will catch pinworm eggs.
-
3
Bring the strip of tape to your physician to be tested. Pinworm eggs cannot be seen by the naked eye. Repeat the process for a few consecutive days to better your chances of catching pinworm eggs.
