Healthy Snacks for Kids at Bed Time
Hunger pangs upon hearing the words 'bedtime' never fail when it comes to some children. There are plenty of ways to not only help soothe those 'hunger pangs' but also to help get our children in the habit of eating healthy. A big plus is that when eating a healthy carbohydrate snack at dinner time, our children get a healthy kick to their serotonin production, helping them to have a better night's sleep.-
Cereal and muffins

Eating a bowl of cereal and milk or a health muffin is one of the best snacks for a child to have at bedtime. The carbohydrates in the cereal and milk as well as the muffin helps to stimulate the creation of serotonin in the brain, causing a calming, sleepy effect.
Fruits, yogurt and peanut butter

Having a piece of fruit, such as a banana, and or a cup of yogurt is also yet another healthy snack for your child for his bedtime hungries. You could also offer your child some slices of apple with peanut butter spread on them. Frozen grapes or some granola mixed with raisins are some other great snack ideas.
Waffles, celery and cheese

Giving your child a whole wheat waffle, spread with his favorite yogurt or a piece of celery spread with peanut butter are healthy, satisfying snacks that your child will love. Small cubes of cheese served with their favorite vegetable is yet another way to get your child to eat healthy, low-fat fares, before they head off to sleep. Switching their evening snacks around teaches them to have a healthy, diversified diet and not turn to sweets or sugary foods when they get snack cravings. It is a habit that is sure to carry them throughout their whole lives.
