  Many people are unaware of the fact that coconut oil is a great deterrent for head lice, also known as Pediculus humanus capitis. You'll want to start by finding a shampoo and conditioner that is scented with coconut. Look on the ingredients list to make sure coconut is actually used in the product as well.

  Wash your child's hair in the coconut shampoo and follow with the conditioner every time they have a bath or shower. Coconut oil is great for hair and will also leave it smelling wonderful and shining brilliantly!

  In addition to just using it for washing, I also recommend adding a little to their hair right after their bath, the same way that you would add gel, mousse or any hair care product. I always massage it in to make sure the product gets all the way to the scalp.

  For girls I also recommend keeping their hair up. After putting extra conditioner in their hair, braid it or put it in a cute bun or pony tail. This will aid in the prevention of head lice.

  Coconut Oil also works for getting rid of lice since the oil is said to be deadly to lice. Wash hair everyday with the coconut shampoo to kill the lice and any new nymphs as they hatch.
