Have the child lay down on his back. It is very important that the child remain as still as possible. Older children may prefer to stand and hold their heads back. You can also have the child hold his head back and rest it against a piece of furniture, such as a sofa or bed.

Tell your child to close both of her eyes. It is best if the child isn’t squinting, but this process will still work even if the child is squinting.

Place a drop in the corner of the eye and then have your child open his eyes. The drop will automatically run into your child’s eye when the eye opens. Do not allow your child to rub his eyes.

Repeat this process for each drop needed for each eye.
