How long can a person live on life support?
Some people who are on life support for a long time may eventually be able to come off of it and return to a normal life. However, others may never be able to come off of life support and will need to remain on it indefinitely.
The decision of whether or not to keep someone on life support is a complex one that should be made in consultation with the patient's family, doctors, and other healthcare providers. There are a number of factors to consider, including the patient's wishes, their quality of life, and the likelihood of recovery.
