How many people die from not having enough water?
The World Health Organization estimates that around 2 billion people around the world do not have regular access to safe drinking water. Contaminated water accounts for around 1.73 million children's deaths per year with people living in developing countries and children under the age of five being disproportionately affected. Diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio can all result from dirty water, in addition it can also cause long-term problems from malnutrition resulting from the body rejecting contaminated food.
