Grants for Hospice Care

Hospice involves care and support for individuals and families dealing with terminal illness and end-of-life care. Grants for individuals and organizations can offer relief from the financial strain associated with terminal illness and hospice care. Federal grants typically are awarded to organizations that offer services to the community, while private foundations are more likely to offer grants to individuals and family members.
  1. Hospice Foundation of America

    • Hospice Foundation of America awards grant funding to organizations that provide bereavement services for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17. Non-profit hospices that provide services for their entire local communities are eligible to apply. One grant for $10,000 is awarded, in addition to several smaller grants for $1,000 each.

Grant guidelines require a short letter of intent, no longer than 250 words, which should include the organization's mission statement, staff and volunteer information, and the geographic service area. Applicants must include a description of programs offered to the target group, along with a brief description of how the organization will use the funds.

After reviewing the letters of intent, the foundation invites certain applicants to submit full grant proposals. The entire process takes approximately three months beginning in March and ending in June.
