How to Make a Hemp Guitar Strap
Hemp, or cannabis sativa, produces a high quality, durable fiber and has been used as a fabric for over 8,000 years. Depending on the process in which the fabric is created, hemp can feel like canvas, linen and even satin. Making a guitar strap from this environmentally friendly material provides you with a strong strap that can withstand years of wear and tear. A truly versatile and useful fiber, hemp allows you the opportunity to create attractive and resilient cloth items.Things You'll Need
- Two hemp fabric strips that are 24 inches long by 4 inches wide

1
Lay one of the 24 inch strips of hemp fabric out in front of you, making sure there are no wrinkles in it.
-
2
Snip a strip of cotton padding from the roll to equal the size of the hemp fabric strip. Layer the padding directly over the hemp fabric.
-
3
Layer the other strip of hemp fabric over top the padded strip. Sew around all of the edges of the strips to create a single, long strap.
-
4
Loop a two by four inch strip of hemp fabric around the wide edge of a "D"ring. Sew it secured. Do this with the other strip and "D"ring.
-
5
Adhere the other end of the fabric that is attached to the "D"rings to each end of the hemp fabric strap. These ringed ends easily snap into place onto the pegs on the back of a guitar.
