How to Activate an Express Scripts Benefits Card

Express Scripts is a benefit of many health insurance programs that offers medical coverage for prescription drugs. The card is accepted at retail pharmacy stores and can be used for at-home drug delivery services. Once you receive your new card, you must activate it before it can be used. A new member information packet should accompany the card when you receive it. Inside the packet there will be information on how to activate the new card. Visit the Express Scripts website listed in your information packet. You may also find the web address located on your member card, or you can dial the Express Scripts toll-free number to activate the card.

      Visit the Express Scripts website (express-scripts.com).

      Click the "Services" link and then click "Members." Once on the "Members" page, you will be asked to enter a username and password. Since your card has not yet been activated, scroll down to the "Activate Your Account" link. After doing this, you will be asked to enter your Member ID Number, which is located on your card. There is a clickable link on this screen to help you find your ID number if you cannot locate it.

      Enter your first and last name and your date of birth by entering the month, date, and four-digit year. Then enter your zip code and your email address. You will be prompted to re-enter your email address for verification purposes.

      Choose an answer from the drop-down menu to explain how you found out about the Express Scripts website. Click "Next."

      Activate via toll-free number.

      Create a user name and password to log into Express Scripts. Create a name and password you will be able to remember. When you return to the site, you will not be able to log in without it. Click "Next" to finish the activation process. Your card is now activated.

      Activate your new card by dialing the toll-free number located on your card. Follow the prompts to enter your ID number and other information such as your date of birth.
