Income Limits for Indiana Medicaid
Indiana Medicaid is a state and federal program offering health care to qualifying low-income, disabled and elderly individuals. Medically needy Indiana residents are encouraged to apply for Medicaid at a local Indiana Family and Social Services office or by calling 1-800-889-9949.-
General Income Limits
-
Income limits for pregnant women, and children under age 19, are set at no more than 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Women eligible for the Indiana Breast and Cervical Cancer Program may receive Medicaid if their income is below 250 percent of the FPL. Income limits for adults with children is set at 100 percent of the FPL.
Medicare and Medicaid
-
Medicaid may be used in conjunction with Medicare. Income limits for those with Medicare are between 100 and 120 percent of the FPL.
Disabilities
-
Disabled individuals in Indiana must meet low-income requirements in addition to Indiana disability definitions. Disabled workers may be eligible for Medicaid if their income does not exceed 200 to 350 percent of the FPL.
Considerations
-
Medicaid recipients must meet asset guidelines as well as income limits. Assets include, but are not limited to, bank accounts, retirement plans, investments and life insurance. However, Medicaid does allow qualified elderly and disabled individuals to "spend down" income and assets and still qualify for Medicaid.
