How to Use Clomid
Clomid is prescribed to help a woman ovulate who is trying to become pregnant. Clomid stimulates hormones in the body that help an egg to grow to maturity and be released, an event called ovulation. This medication is taken for a short period of time for a limited number of cycles.Things You'll Need

1
Track your basal body temperature. This is the temperature of your body after at least three hours of rest. You should take your temperature first thing in the morning, at the same time each morning. When ovulation occurs, there will be an upward shift in your temperature that is maintained until your period starts. If you are not ovulating, a condition that Clomid is used to treat, you will not see this temperature shift.

Have a thorough medical exam. An OBGYN will need to prescribe Clomid, and will do so only after a thorough examination that determines whether the medication is necessary. Bring your basal body temperature charts to show your doctor whether or not you are ovulating.
Your doctor will likely prescribe several blood tests to determine the cause of your anovulation (lack of ovulation). If your doctor determines that you need Clomid to help induce ovulation, he will write you a prescription.

Take the Clomid as prescribed, usually for five days at the beginning of your cycle. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed in order for it to have the desired effect. If you do not become pregnant while taking this medication after six cycles, you will need to take a break. Discuss this with your doctor.
