How to Remove a Mirena Coil
Instructions
-
-
1
Call the doctor who inserted your Mirena coil within five years of your insertion date or if you decide to become pregnant to make an appointment to have the Mirena removed. If you have moved or are no longer seeing the same doctor, make sure your new doctor is familiar with the Mirena coil.
-
2
Inform the doctor's office in advance if you want to have a new Mirena inserted when the old one is removed. Your doctor can remove a Mirena and insert a new one at the same appointment, but they will need to have one on hand.
-
3
Discuss your birth control options with your doctor at your appointment when you have your Mirena coil removed if you opt not to have a new one inserted.
