How to Donate Eggs in Yakima, Washington

Having a baby can be one of the most meaningful and exciting experiences of a woman's life, so it can be heartbreaking when a couple have problems conceiving. In these cases, the couple may seek outside help, such as an egg donor. Fertility clinics around the country encourage healthy women of all races, shapes and sizes to donate eggs for needy couples. The process usually takes 10 to 15 minutes, and the donor is not responsible for any medical costs. Unfortunately, there are currently no egg-donation centers in Yakima, Washington. The closest center is in Bellevue at the Washington Center for Reproductive Medicine.

  Call the Washington Center at 425-462-6100 and let them know that you are interested in being a donor. They may ask you some preliminary questions about your race, medical history and personal behavior to try and determine if you are eligible to participate in a donation. The center representative will go over the process, so make sure you listen carefully and take notes so that you fully understand the process of the medical procedure. Keep in mind that it will involve a mild local anesthetic.

  Complete the questionnaire distributed by the center that details your health and use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. You will also be asked to submit a family history that will evaluate genetic disorders, premature organ failure and early deaths.

  Allow physicians to complete a full physical and perform diagnostic tests for sexually transmitted diseases that could be passed on to the child through the embryo. Then cooperate with a full psychological examination.

  Set up appointments and work to coordinate your interviews with the center staff to complete the review process. Ask about any questions or concerns you may have and then sign the informed consent form that states your understanding of the procedure.
