How to Tell if the EPT Test Is Positive

Taking a home pregnancy test allows you the opportunity to find out if you are pregnant in the comfort of your home. Whether you are trying to get pregnant or suspect pregnancy based on a variety of symptoms, you should wait until your period is at least one day late for an accurate result. Home pregnancy tests, such as EPT brand, work by recognizing certain levels of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) present in your body at the time of your test.

  1. EPT Pregnancy Test

    • 1

      Remove the test stick from the foil packet and remove the purple cap from the absorbent tip.

      Hold the test stick by its thumb grip and point it downward into your urine stream for five seconds. If you prefer, collect your urine in a clean, dry cup and dip the stick into the cup for 20 seconds.

      Place the test stick on a flat surface with the results windows facing up for two minutes.

      Read the results window after two minutes to look for a plus or minus symbol. A "+" indicates a positive pregnancy result and a "-" indicates a negative pregnancy result.

      Remove the test stick from the foil wrapper and remove the cap.

      Locate the purple arrows on the test stick and holder, and line the arrows up as you place the test stick into the holder. You will hear it click when it is in position.

      Hold the test stick with the absorbent tip facedown and insert into your urine flow for five to seven seconds. If you prefer, collect your urine in a clean, dry cup and dip the stick into the cup for 20 seconds.

      Place the test stick and holder on a flat surface with the results window facing up for three minutes. Within 20 to 30 seconds, you will see the "Test Ready" symbol flash in the results window. Do not eject the test stick during this time.

      Read the test results after at least three minutes, or until you see a result visible in the results window. It will show a "pregnant" or "not pregnant" result.
