How to Get Rid of a Blocked Oil Duct for a Hair on My Chin

Our faces have millions of tiny oil ducts that help nourish the skin and keep it pliant. When an oil duct gets clogged or blocked, it can cause an inflamed blemish that is more commonly known as a zit or a pimple. When a blocked oil duct happens to be in the immediate area of a hair follicle, it can cause additional irritation, particularly in men whose facial hair is more coarse. Getting rid of a blocked oil duct on your face takes some patience and consistent care, but you should be able to clear it up within a week.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your face thoroughly with a mild cleanser that is oil free. Do not scrub your skin vigorously at to avoid irritating the area further. Pat dry with a towel.

    • 2

Apply a blemish cream or gel that contains salicylic acid to the blocked oil duct by using a clean finger. The salicylic acid will help dry up the oil to clear the clogged duct.

    • 3

Refrain from attempting to "pop" or squeeze the blemish, as this can make it worse in terms of additional infection as well as irritating and possibly scarring the area. Clip your nails short if you find you are tempted to pick at the blemish. The more you leave it alone, the faster it will heal.
