1
Wash your feet with the mild soap to remove all dirt and bacteria. Rinse your feet well with warm water.
-
2
Dry your feet almost completely with the absorbent towel. By leaving your feet slightly damp, the moisturizer will lock into your skin more readily.
-
3
Apply the shea butter or petroleum jelly over the cracks in your heels. Coat the skin on your heels thoroughly with the moisturizer.
-
4
Slip on the cotton socks immediately after applying the moisturizer. As you pull the socks on over your feet, try to adjust them against your heels without wiping the moisturizer off your skin. The WebMD website recommends covering your heels with plastic wrap first before putting your socks on to seal in the moisturizer and minimize wiping it off.
-
5
Leave the socks on for at least eight hours to allow the moisturizers time to work on your skin. An easy way to achieve this is to wash your feet before you go to bed at night and sleep in your socks.
-
6
Remove the socks after eight hours.
-
7
Repeat this process every night to moisturize the skin and heal the cracks. You should notice improvement in the cracks in your heels within three days according to the WebMD website.
