A Do-it-Yourself Air Ionizer
Air ionizers generate a series of ions designed to latch onto particulate matter in the air and remove it from circulation. Substances such as dust, pet dander, cigarette smoke and bacteria are targets of air ionizers. According to some manufacturers, air ionizers can also improve the mood of a room or open space.Things You'll Need
- Soldering iron
- Diodes
- Capacitors
- Voltage multiplier
- Plastic container
- Emitter needles
- Resistors

1
Use a soldering iron to connect the capacitors and diodes, pairing them one to one. Use a series set of connections.
-
2
Hook the network of capacitors and diodes to the resistors. Connect it the right way to keep the current flowing; if you turn the ladder the wrong way, the polarity will be wrong and the current will stop.
-
3
Connect your work to a voltage multiplier, and plug the multiplier into the wall socket or DC power source.
-
4
Hook up the emitter needles to the resistors. This keeps you from getting shocked if you accidentally touch the needles. Turn on the machine. If the needles are shooting out air and whirring or hissing quietly, you're all set. Put the whole machine into a plastic container for storage.
