Work speed stays the same while warming your fingers.

Wear mittens or tight-fitting gloves without fingertips. Fleece, fingerless gloves keep your hands warm while allowing dexterity for typing and writing. Hands are kept warm while the thumbs are exposed so you can easily text on your phone, for example. Warm fabrics include fleece, wool and synthetic stretch materials.

Joint circulation provides heat through the bloodstream.

Get your circulation going. Stand up at your desk and rotate your shoulders forward, scrunch them up and roll them back in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Or, make a fist and hold so that your nails do not touch your skin. Keep the joint above your fingernail straight. Tense the hand for 30 seconds and then relax in this position.

Wear a fashionable head scarf, if appropriate.

Cover other parts of your body. Wear warm clothing, such as long johns, underneath your clothes. Add a scarf to your neck or wear a turtleneck or sweater to warm the primary blood vessels that are close to the neck and wrists. If you keep other areas of your body shielded from the air, less heat will escape and cold hands will dissipate quicker. (Reference 1)

Cup your hands around a hot beverage.

Drink tea, coffee or any warm beverage at your desk. Herb teas that have warming properties include sarsaparilla root and fenugreek. Try also adding chai herbs to your diet, such as ginger, cinnamon, cardamon and cayenne, in addition to vitamins B, C and E. Squeeze a lemon in hot water to cleanse your liver, the organ known for producing heat in your body. Eat meat or make sure you have enough iron in your diet.

Breath deeper. Deep breaths allow more oxygen into your body. After the oxygen is transferred from the lungs into your bloodstream, you will feel more heat throughout your body and in your hands.

Buy a battery-operated hand warmer. Hand warmers designed for hunters and skiers work well.
