How to Kill Bacteria on Dishes

Bacteria can make life unpleasant for both you and your family. From minor illnesses to food poisoning and salmonella, if you do not get the bacteria first, they will get you. The kitchen is a breeding ground for these types of germs, with old food stuck on plates, unwashed cutting boards and kitchen counters that seem to be a magnet for spills. You can kill bacteria in just a few steps that take a little bit of your time.

Instructions

    • 1

Kill the bacteria on your dishes by washing them thoroughly. Start by placing them in a sink full of hot, soapy water, or loading them in your dishwasher.

    • 2

Start the dishwasher, or wash each dish by hand with a washcloth or soapy sponge. Rinse the dishes thoroughly in hot water.

    • 3

Unload the dishwasher, or dry the dishes with a clean towel and put them away.
