How to Keep Fingertips Warm
Cold hands can ruin an otherwise perfect day of skiing, ice skating, snowmobiling or snowboarding. Even sitting in the stands as you watch your favorite football team take on its opponents turns into an uncomfortable chore when your fingertips are cold. Sure, blowing on them works momentarily, as does sticking them under your armpits, but to actively participate in outdoor activities in cold weather and remain comfortable, think “layers” when you choose protective hand wear.Things You'll Need
- Mittens
- Liner gloves
- Hand warmers

1
Wear water-proof mittens instead of gloves. Your fingers pressed together provide more warmth than when they are separated, as they are in gloves.
-
2
Use insulating liner gloves under the mittens.
-
3
Purchase commercial hand warmers to use inside the mittens. These are available at ski shops and camping equipment dealers.
-
4
Hold your arms straight and swing them to the front and back for two to three minutes. This forces the blood from your torso into your fingertips.
