How to Set Up a Home Spa

If you're tired of paying high prices at the local spa, consider creating a home spa of your own. Invite a few friends over and have each one bring a key ingredient to complete the spa transformation. Arrange for someone to watch your children and indulge in an afternoon of relaxation and pampering.

Instructions

    • 1

Pick a private location within your home to transform into your spa. If you have an extra large bathroom or guest bedroom room, set the spa up in there. Choose a theme and include matching decorations.

    • 2

Set the lighting. Arrange lighting in various locations of the room, using candles around the treatment area. Use aromatherapy candles to create a restful atmosphere.

    • 3

Plug in a compact disc player. Purchase classical or calming music to play during your spa treatments. Drown out any background noise within the home by focusing on the music.

    • 4

Arrange the room to accommodate your spa. Include comfortable chairs near the foot bath or for relaxing while treatments work. Set up a table with all the ingredients and tools needed to create your own treatments and scrubs. Place fresh, warm face towels within reach on the table.

    • 5

Stock the treatment areas. Include foot scrub tools near the pedicure area along with special ingredients to add to the foot bath such as honey, coconut milk, Epsom salts or cornmeal. Include another tray or basket with nail polish, polish remover, toe separators and nail files. Place ingredients for facials in bowls on the facial table, including empty bowls for mixing.

    • 6

Place bath salts and bubble bath and large towels near your tub. Set up candles around the bathtub if possible, and place a bath pillow at one end of the tub.
