1
Stretch out your muscles. You can prevent heat cramps by stretching and massaging your muscles while they are stretched at full length.
-
2
Drink lots of fluids. Water will replenish the water you lose and help prevent heat cramps. A sports drink is also helpful to replace electrolytes and fluids that you have lost.
-
3
Eat foods high in potassium. Loss of potassium is another reason for heat cramps. You can replenish your potassium by loading up on fruits, like bananas.
-
4
Start slowly when working out in warmer environments than you are accustomed to and take a break if you start to get a headache.
-
5
Wear light colored clothes that are also light-weight, especially if you are exercising in a sunny location. Use any fans and air conditioners that are available to you.
