The Best Way to Prevent Bloody Noses
Nosebleeds are common occurrences for some people, and they usually involve bleeding on one side of the front of the nose. Nosebleeds are usually caused by something as simple as picking your nose, breathing heated dry air, or using medications such as blood thinners. Nosebleeds vary dramatically in the rate of flow, but the experience can be annoying and even frightening. While they are unpredictable, some steps can be taken to prevent nosebleeds.Things You'll Need

1
Avoid hard blowing of the nose and always sneeze with an open mouth. The small blood vessels of the nose are easily damaged by forceful blowing and increased nasal pressure.
-
2
Avoid picking your nose. Do not insert fingers, cotton applicators or other foreign objects into your nose.
-
3
Avoid the use of medications that can increase bleeding. Such medications include over-the-counter medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen and naproxen, and prescription medications like warfarin.
-
4
Keep dry nasal membranes moist in dry climates by using saline nasal spray or saline nasal gel spray. Moist nasal membranes are more difficult to injure. If nasal membranes are dry, it is best to blow the nose after applying saline nasal spray or gel.

5
Add moisture to dry heated air in the home by using a room or home humidifier. Also maintain a cooler home temperature to avoid dry nasal membranes.
