How to Find a Certified Doctor

If your doctor is certified this means he has been accepted as a member of an official American medical board and therefore meets the professional standards of practice necessary to be considered a specialist. There are 24 specialty boards in the U.S. that are recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) and The American Board of Medical Specialities (ABMS). There are a number of ways that you can ascertain whether your doctor is a board certified member of one of them.
