How to Make a Microwavable Body Warmer

A body warmer can be a pleasant relief for pregnant women, cold and flu relief and muscle relief from aches and pains. A body warmer can be microwaved for a short period of time and retain enough heat to last up to 30 minutes. A homemade body warmer can be created using some simple household items like a tube sock and rice. Not only will your homemade warmer hold heat, if left in the freezer it can be used as a cold compress in case of injury.

  • Tube sock
  • Uncooked rice
  • Yarn

      Open the tube sock and fill it with uncooked rice. Do not pack the rice in tightly, you should have enough room in the sock to tie it, when you are finished.

      Tie a piece of yarn around the top of the tube sock to close it and keep the rice inside.

      Place the sock into your microwave and heat the rice on high for one minute. Do not overheat the body warmer, the rice in your sock may burn or catch fire.

      Shake the sock once you remove it from the microwave. This will spread the heated rice around and give the warmer a more even temperature.
