Uses of Gravity Machines

Gravity machines for fitness were introduced in 2003 as an alternative to the usual gym equipment such as stair-climbing machines and treadmills. A 30-minute workout in videos and live gym classes is often recommended to help in the proper use of these machines. Although gravity machines are relative newcomers in the health and fitness world, they became available in 160 U.S. health clubs in their first four years.
  1. Muscle Development

    • Gravity machines work by increasing the weight and resistance applied to your body, much like how regular weights are added on to other gym equipment. Because of the additional weight, repeated use stimulates muscle development in the exercised area. For example, if you are repeatedly pushing with your legs against the gravity machine, then the calves and other leg muscles become stronger and more developed over time. The equipment should be used properly to avoid injury and accidents.

    Bone Growth

    • Gravity machines are also used for astronauts, since the lack of gravity in space affects muscle tone and bone growth. With the constant stretching and repeated force on the bones with every muscle movement, bone growth is stimulated, leading the body to develop longer, sturdier bones or heal fractures. With repeated use of a gravity machine, the exercised bone structure tends to grow faster and longer.

    Body Toning

    • When a person exerts more effort to perform a task, the body burns more calories to keep up with the activity. That reduces body fat, leaving more room for muscle growth. Gravity machine help burn calories, and when coupled with the right type of workout regime they can result to a better toned body. Exercise your body parts equally to lose fat in them.

    Body Strengthening

    • Frequent stretching and exercising of your muscles ultimately leads to strengthening of the muscles. Stronger muscles and sturdier bones are direct results of frequent exercising. By using a gravity machine as your main exercise equipment, you can strengthen your bones and muscles through repeated, fully supported activities. If you use the gravity machine safely and take ample periods of rest and recovery, you should be on your way to a fitter, stronger physique.
