How to Read Pregnancy Hormone Levels of 190 mIU/ml

Pregnancy is an exciting time, but it can also be scary. Throughout your pregnancy, doctors will run many tests to make sure everything is going well with you and your baby. The pregnancy hormone is human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). According to American Pregnancy, hCG is made by cells that form the placenta. A blood test can first detect hCG levels around 11 days after conception. A urine test can detect the hCG levels around 12 to 14 days after conception.

Instructions

Determine the due date for your baby. Whether your hCG levels are considered normal are based on your due date.

    • 2

Decide whether your hCG level is normal, high or low. When hCG levels are between 5 and 426 mIU/ml this usually means you are five weeks pregnant. Therefore, an hCG level of 190 mIU/ml indicates you are about five weeks pregnant.

    • 3

Recheck your hCG level within six days to see how the level changes. Usually, hCG levels double every 72 hours, and hCG peaks in the first 8 to 11 weeks of pregnancy. The hCG levels then decline and level off.

See your doctor for further testing. Your doctor will probably conduct an ultrasound. If your hCG level is 190 mIU/ml and you are more than five weeks pregnant, you may have miscalculated your due date. It may also indicate a miscarriage, blighted ovum or even an ectopic pregnancy. If you have a 190 mIU/ml hCG level and you are less than five weeks pregnant, you may have a molar pregnancy or may even be expecting multiple babies.
