What happens when someone gets pregnant?
Pregnancy begins when a fertilized egg implants in the lining of the uterus. This usually occurs about 10-14 days after ovulation, when a mature egg is released from one of the ovaries.
Once the fertilized egg implants in the uterus, it begins to grow and develop into an embryo. The embryo is made up of three layers of cells:
* The ectoderm, which will develop into the skin, hair, and nervous system
* The mesoderm, which will develop into the bones, muscles, and connective tissue
* The endoderm, which will develop into the digestive system and respiratory system
Over the course of the next 40 weeks, the embryo will continue to grow and develop into a fetus. The fetus will reach full term at 37-42 weeks of gestation, at which point it is ready to be born.
Pregnancy is a time of great change for a woman's body and mind. The physical changes that occur during pregnancy include:

Pregnancy is a special time in a woman's life. It is a time of growth, change, and preparation for the arrival of a new baby.
