What is hyper pregnancy?
Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a pregnancy complication characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, and electrolyte imbalances. It is more severe than typical morning sickness and can lead to dehydration, weight loss, and malnutrition. HG is thought to be caused by elevated hormone levels, although the exact cause is not fully understood. It usually starts around six weeks of pregnancy and peaks around nine to 13 weeks, although it can sometimes last longer. Symptoms of HG can include intense nausea and vomiting, dehydration, weight loss, fatigue, electrolyte imbalance, and ketosis. Treatment typically involves a combination of medications, lifestyle modifications, and dietary changes. In severe cases, hospitalization may be required to administer intravenous fluids and other treatments.
