How long should a girl wait after sex to check for pregnancy?

A girl cannot check for pregnancy immediately after sex. It takes time for the body to produce enough of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), to be detectable in a pregnancy test. Most home pregnancy tests recommend waiting at least 10 days after a missed period to test for pregnancy. Some tests may be more sensitive and can detect pregnancy earlier, but it is still best to wait at least 10 days for the most accurate results.
