How early can you get pregnant?

It is possible to get pregnant as early as 5-10 days after the start of a woman's last menstrual period (LMP). This is because ovulation, the process by which a mature egg is released from one of the ovaries, can occur as early as 10-14 days before the start of the next expected menstrual period. If unprotected intercourse occurs during this time, fertilization of the egg by a sperm cell can take place, resulting in pregnancy.
