Why do you feel bloated when pregnant?

During pregnancy, hormonal changes such as increased progesterone levels relax the muscles of the digestive tract. This relaxation slows down the digestion process, leading to a feeling of fullness and bloating. Additionally, the growing uterus puts pressure on the intestines, contributing to feelings of bloating and constipation. In the later stages of pregnancy, the fetus may press on the stomach directly, also causing sensations of bloating. Dietary changes like increased fiber intake, avoiding gassy foods and eating smaller, more frequent meals can help alleviate bloating during pregnancy.
