What is the law regarding 15 year old being pregnant in Illinois while dcfs care?
According to the Illinois Compiled Statutes, if a minor is pregnant and in the care of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), the department must provide services to the minor and her child until the minor reaches the age of 18, or until the minor is emancipated or adopted. DCFS must also provide services to the child's father, if he is known.The services that DCFS must provide include:
- Medical care
- Educational services
- Mental health services
- Substance abuse treatment
- Services to prevent child abuse and neglect
- Child placement services
If the minor is at least 14 years old and pregnant, DCFS must also provide the minor with information about and access to abortion services. DCFS must also provide the minor with information about adoption and parenting.
