How do your breasts feel when pregnant?
- Increased breast size and firmness. This is due to the increased production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone.
- More tender or sore breasts. This is also due to the increased production of estrogen and progesterone.
- Darkening of the areolas. This is caused by the increased production of melanin, which is a pigment that gives color to skin.
- Enlarged Montgomery tubercles. These are small, raised bumps on the areolas that produce oil.
- Leaking of colostrum. Colostrum is a thin, yellowish fluid that is produced by the breasts during pregnancy and in the early days after childbirth.
Not all women experience all of these breast changes during pregnancy. Some women may only experience a few of these changes, while others may experience all of them.
