When should you get your period after having a baby?

Most women will have their period return between 4 and 8 weeks after giving birth. However, this can vary depending on the individual. Some women may have their period return as early as 2 weeks after giving birth, while others may not have it return for several months.

If you are breastfeeding, it may take longer for your period to return. This is because breastfeeding can suppress ovulation, the process that leads to the release of an egg from the ovary. Therefore, if you are breastfeeding it might take 6-8 weeks for your period to return, if you are breastfeeding exclusively it might be 5 to 6 months before you have your first period.

It is important to remember that every woman is different, so there is no need to worry if you do not have your period return at exactly 4 weeks after giving birth. If you have any concerns, talk to your doctor.

Factors that can affect when your period returns after giving birth:

- Whether or not you are breastfeeding

- Your age

- Your overall health

- Your ethnicity

- The number of children you have given birth to

- The type of delivery you had (vaginal or cesarean section)

If you have any concerns about when your period should return after giving birth, talk to your doctor.
